Middle Georgia State University, Vice President for Enrollment Management

Help us change lives!  Middle Georgia State University (MGA) invites applications and nominations for the newly created position of vice president for enrollment management.  This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced enrollment management professional with a proven track record of success who will creatively and strategically develop and execute a plan to grow enrollment with an innovative plan that is consistent with the goals, mission and resources of MGA, which is a multi-campus university with an access function. 

The dedicated and talented direct reports who will assist the VPEM include the assistant vice president for enrollment management & chief marketing officer, director of recruitment & admissions, director of financial aid, registrar, director of new & student transfer orientation/on-boarding, and manager of the enrollment support team.  The VPEM reports to the president and collaborates closely with the senior leadership team and academic deans to develop and implement short and long-term enrollment strategies that reflect a culture of ambitious enrollment growth.  The vice president for enrollment management is responsible for an operating budget of $742,000 and financial aid awarding of over $53 million in Title IV and State Aid for over 8600 students. 

Middle Georgia State University’s largest campus and administrative hub is located in Macon, Georgia. Additional campuses are located in Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins affording MGA unparalleled reach across middle Georgia. Our largest amount of residential housing is located in Cochran and there are plans for future expansion of residential housing in Macon.   Total enrollment is approximately 7,400 students; nearly 96 percent are from Georgia and 72 percent are under the age of 25. Minority students comprise approximately 40 percent of the student body. 

Under President Blake’s leadership since January 2014, the institution transitioned to university status on July 1, 2015, and continues to expand its academic programs and educational opportunities. Through MGA’s College of Arts and Sciences, School of Aviation, School of Business, School of Education and Behavioral Sciences, School of Health Sciences, and School of Information Technology, students can select from traditional liberal arts courses to professional programs to flight and aviation studies.

 

A key area of planned growth is undergraduate enrollment on all 5 campuses.  Currently we offer 24 certificate programs, 13 associate’s degrees and 18 bachelor’s degrees.  In addition, we have 4 master’s degrees (IT, Nursing, Secondary Education and Business) with plans for future expansion.  This position will advise and provide collaborative assistance to graduate education.

Macon, Georgia is situated at the intersection of Interstates 75 and 16 in the heart of Georgia just 70 miles south of Atlanta. Offering large-city amenities and affordable housing, Macon-Bibb County has a population of approximately 155,000, with the metropolitan area population totaling nearly 230,000. Macon is filled with cultural and entertainment opportunities and events that celebrate its diverse demographics. 

Qualifications

A Master’s degree is required; doctoral degree preferred. At least ten years of enrollment management experience with five years of progressively responsible management experience is required.

Must be able to employ an analytical mindset to effectively utilize data and cutting-edge technology to inform strategy and decision-making.  The VPEM must be forward thinking and able to anticipate and effectively respond to all matters that influence enrollment.

The ideal candidate will have experience with a diverse population and a multi-campus institution with an access function.  Experience with a complex public university is preferred.  Excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong data and technology skills, integrity, ability to motivate staff and to foster collaboration across diverse groups of constituents will be needed. A high degree of understanding of the complex facets of enrollment, marketing and communications, financial aid and the registrar will also be factors considered in the selection of the vice president for enrollment management.
