The Position

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Executive Director of Admissions & Recruitment is responsible for providing leadership and direction in the recruitment and admission of new domestic and international undergraduate students to West Virginia University. The Executive Director provides leadership and vision in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and strategies designed to attract and enroll prospective students and ensures that all core areas of the recruitment operation are achieving expected levels of performance, including: territory management, student telecounseling, event planning, outreach, social media and web-based recruitment, and alumni recruitment. Additionally, the Executive Director partners with University Relations in the yearly development, design, and production of a strategic marketing and communications plan for prospective and admitted students, including print, email, web-based and social media platforms. The Executive Director also provides overall leadership in developing and enhancing internal policies and procedures to continuously improve the admission process for more than 27,000 applicants annually. This position also includes identifying and deploying strategies to leverage technology and enhancements to the Student Information System (Banner) and CRM (Target X) to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the admissions and recruitment process. The Executive Director develops and efficiently administers the Recruitment Office budget, including budget forecasting, planning, and monitoring of expenditures, and supervises seven direct reports.

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree and at least six years of progressively responsible experience in higher education admissions and recruitment. Demonstrated success in managing staff and college admission and recruitment functions is also required. The ideal candidate will have experience using Ellucian’s Banner Student Information System and/or Target X’s CRM. Strong relationship building skills and a record of success working collaboratively with diverse populations is expected. A valid driver’s license is required.

Consideration will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and eight years of directly related experience.
