Dean of Enrollment Management - York College of Pennsylvania

Founded in 1787 as York Academy, York College of Pennsylvania is a private college located in south central Pennsylvania with an enrollment of approximately 4500 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Students are from more than 30 states and 35 countries and have access to over 50 undergraduate majors. Business administration, nursing, biology, education, and engineering are among the most popular programs. Master’s Degrees in nursing, business administration and education, and a Doctoral degree in nursing practice are also offered. The College has a long tradition of dedication to the intellectual, professional and social growth of its students. The College’s 190-acre suburban campus location offers convenient access to Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C as well as Philadelphia and New York City. In July 2013, the College welcomed its fourth President, Dr. Pamela Gunter-Smith, whose dynamic and highly collaborative leadership style is guiding the institution in prosperous new directions. The College recently completed its 2016-2021 strategic plan for a Greater York College, which was approved by the Board of Trustees January 2016. Growth in enrollment, both through admissions and retention, is a major goal of the strategic plan. 

The Position

The Dean of Enrollment Management is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the College’s strategic enrollment plan that ranges from entry to graduation. The Dean provides leadership in the development and coordination of the recruitment programs, undergraduate and graduate admissions, targeted financial aid, and retention programs as well as providing direction regarding specific types of marketing and recruitment materials. In close partnership with academic and administrative units and with broad awareness of current and impending market trends affecting recruitment and enrollment, the Dean will play an integral role in shaping each incoming class. The Dean of Enrollment Management serves as the chief enrollment officer of the College and as such reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Senior Administrative Cabinet. Current direct reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management include the Director of Admissions, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Enrollment Operations & database Management, Director of Transfer Student Recruitement and Director of Enrollment Communications. In addition to internal constituents, the Dean of Enrollment Management is expected to work collaboratively and constructively with external partners including vendors and consultants under contract within Enrollment Management. 

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred. At least ten years of experience in a progressive management role in admissions, enrollment management, financial aid, and/or marketing in higher education are also required. An understanding of best practices in enrollment marketing and data-driven decision making, and demonstrated success in an enrollment management role at an institution that is tuition driven is expected. The Dean of Enrollment Management must be an organized, creative, collaborative, engaged, and energetic hands-on leader who will be expected to analyze complex financial information and statistical data and to have an understanding of net tuition revenue, strategic pricing, discounting, and financial aid leveraging. Evidence of superior oral, written, and presentation skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with numerous internal and external partners, will be expected. Proven success recruiting and retaining a diverse student body and in working collaboratively across departments is also expected.
